Hiking from Lake Parz (Crystal) to Goshavank Monastery

Our driver and guide will be waiting for you in your location in Yerevan. On the way we’ll have a photo stop by lake Sevan-the pearl of Armenia that is the biggest mountain lake of the Caucasus located at an altitude of 1,900 m above sea level. When we get to lake Parz, which is located in Dilijan National Park, we’ll enjoy the view and surroundings. Afterwards we will begin our hiking to Goshavank monastery in Gosh village (medium difficulty hike between 4-5 hours). Hiking will go through nice forests of Dilijan National Park that is one of the 4 protected national parks in Armenia. It is known for its forest landscapes, rich biodiversity, medicinal mineral water springs, natural and cultural monuments, and a number of hiking trails.

1. Lake Parz
Lake Parz (Crystal) is located in Dilijan National Park, Tavush province, at an altitude of 1334 m above sea level. The lake was formed due to natural climatic changes, it stands for quite a popular destination among both tourists and locals. One can enjoy here the rare diversity of plants and spend a nice day together with friends, having a boat trip around the lake.
2. Goshavank Monastery
Goshavank was founded by the famous medieval scientist, fabulist Mkhitar Gosh. The complex consists of several religious and secular buildings. The unrivalled khachkar, put in front of the one-naved basilica, was created by the skillful master Poghos in 1291. Goshavank used to be one of the most famous religious and cultural centers in medieval Armenia.

- Recommended items in your hiking checklist: hiking boots or shoes, hiking backpack, wear-resistant socks for walking long distances, windproof jacket, fleece jacket, trekking poles, sсunglasses with a factor of at least 3, sunscreen SPF50, headgear, breathable light trousers, long sleeves T-shirt, thin fleece gloves, first-aid kit. The list can be shortened or supplemented based on personal experience
